GROUP ABA AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM:
BUILDING SKILLS, CONFIDENCE, AND KINDNESS—TOGETHER

Elwyn’s Group Applied Behavior Analysis (Group ABA) After School Program supports children and youth ages 3–21 who may have limited opportunities to participate in mainstream social activities with age-appropriate peers. Held on Elwyn’s main campus in Media, PA, Group ABA offers structured, small-group sessions that promote positive behavior, communication, and practical life skills in a supportive, natural setting. Services are individualized, strength-based, and focused on helping each child practice goals alongside peers.

New for 2026: Monthly Themes That Reinforce Growth

Beginning in 2026, groups will align lesson plans around a shared monthly theme that complements ongoing behavioral and social-emotional goals. February’s theme—Kindness—pairs naturally with Random Acts of Kindness Week (February 14–20) and Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17). The theme provides a consistent framework for children to practice empathy, patience, cooperation, and respectful communication while continuing to build core developmental skills.

“You never know what someone is going through. A simple act of kindness can change a person’s entire day. When children feel supported and safe, they are more open to learning, connecting, and developing the skills they need.”

— Noelle Lagana, LSW, LBS. Group ABA Clinical Supervisor

A Kindness-Themed Activity in Action

One example of how kindness is brought to life in Group ABA is through a shared reading of the children’s book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” The story introduces the idea that kind words and actions “fill someone’s bucket,” while hurtful words can “dip” from it. After reading and discussing the story together, children participate in a simple but meaningful exercise where they “fill each other’s buckets” by offering genuine compliments to their peers. This activity encourages positive communication, perspective-taking, and empathy, while giving each child the opportunity to both give and receive encouragement in a supportive group setting.

Kindness is a Daily Practice

In Group ABA, kindness is more than a monthly theme—it is embedded in everyday interactions among children, families, and staff. According to Noelle Lagana, LSW, LBS, Group ABA Clinical Supervisor, kindness is woven into daily care:

“Kindness is essential—students come to us because they need support, and we need to create that kind of environment for them to feel comfortable. By having a supportive team to turn to, students can form trusting relationships with us.”

Through evidence-based behavioral support, peer engagement, and a culture rooted in compassion, Elwyn’s Group ABA After School Program helps children strengthen skills, build confidence, and experience the power of connection—one supportive interaction at a time.

Transportation and Logistics — Clear, Reliable Access
